Start with The Dark Between Stars
The Dark Between Stars is classic space-horror--it follows a rag-tag crew of medics sent out to planets where something has gone terribly wrong. Every member of the crew has secrets. Oh, and also, there are the space-ghosts... If you want something a little milder, but still creepy, The Devil and the Dark is a space-opera/military sci-fi, but it's set in the same world as Dark Between Stars and includes space-ghosts as well, with some really good creepy scenes (Ghost Ships especially)

Start with The Dark Between Stars or Singularity
I hope that, no matter how lighthearted or fun my books are, you end up with something that you'll think about for a long time after you've turned the last page. But The Dark Between Stars is probably the most serious and most thought-provoking of my series. Singularity, too, deals a lot with questions of morality, right and wrong, and what being a good person really means.

Be gay, do crime
All my series are gay af! As far as specifics, in The Ungovernable, you'll find gay, lesbian, and bi (m/f and f/f relationships) representation. In Singularity, there's lesbian, bi (m/enby relationship), and non-binary rep. In The Devil and the Dark, there's lesbian, bi (m/m, m/f, and f/f), non-binary, and trans woman rep. And in The Dark Between Stars, there's lesbian, bi (f/f), gay, and later in the series, non-binary rep.

So do I! That's why I write them.

Start with Singuarity!
Singularity is a first-contact series with aliens of all descriptions (including the aforementioned murder-pet).

You have options!
The Ungovernable is a classic heist/caper, with a crew of ex-cons merrily crimeing across the galaxy. Singularity features a charming assassin and the government agent tasked to take her down. And The Devil and the Dark revolves around the cunning and dangerous Captain Mad Dog, a pirate who's name has become legend.

Which series should you start with?

That depends on what you're looking for.

What's your preference?
The Ungovernable and Singularity both have plenty of romantic subplots where the characters find their OTPs. In The Devil and the Dark and The Dark Between Stars, there are romantic subplots, but they're not quite as clean-cut--they come later in the series, and not everyone ends up with their OTP. But in any case, you'll find at least a bit of romance in everything I write.

Singularity or The Devil and the Dark is your huckleberry
Singularity is very politics-heavy in the classic science fiction tradition--the plot hinges largely on politics, both human and alien, and the effects of those politics on the lives of each of the characters as well as the fate of the galaxy. The Devil and the Dark is military science fiction, and the politics in that one are a background character that drives the action. The Ungovernable and The Dark Between Stars also involve politics, but on a much lighter basis (think Murderbot-style politics rather than The Expanse-style politics)

Look for The Ungovernable or Singularity
The Ungovernable is the most lighthearted of my series--not that it doesn't deal with heavier issues, but there's plenty of humour and lighter moments throughout. Singularity also has its share of lighthearted moments, although it does deal with heavier topics than The Ungovernable does. And while there are fun (and funny) moments in The Devil and the Dark and The Dark Between Stars, those two lean more towards adventure then humour and deal with a lot of heavier topics--trauma, moral dilemmas without a clear answer, and truly morally grey characters
